
The Ministry of Defence provides unified and accountable primary healthcare services for military personnel, to maximize their health and to deliver them medically fit for military operations.
The primary care and mental health services is operated by the MoD across the whole of the United Kingdom and also for British Armed Forces personnel deployed at military bases overseas.
There are a number of military Departments of Community Mental Health providing specialist mental health care to serving personnel and their families resident on Army, Navy and Royal Air Force bases located across the UK. All these base locations are staffed by multidisciplinary clinical teams inclusive of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses and psychologists and all offer specific treatments and therapy for mental disorders and psychological difficulties associated with military service and armed combat.
